Grilled Mango: The Sweet and Juicy Summer Treat That's Also Healthy!

Grilled Mango: A Delightful and Healthy Summer Treat

Mangoes are not only delicious, but they are also packed with nutrients that can benefit your health in numerous ways. One of the best ways to enjoy mangoes is by grilling them. Grilled mango is a sweet and juicy summer treat that can be enjoyed on its own or as part of a salad, salsa or dessert. In this post, we will explore the health benefits of mangoes, how to prepare grilled mango, and some recipe ideas.

Health Benefits of Mangoes

Mangoes are an excellent source of vitamins A and C, which promote healthy skin, eyesight and immune system function. They also contain dietary fiber which aids digestion and helps regulate blood sugar levels. Additionally, mangoes have antioxidants such as beta-carotene and phenolic compounds which may protect against certain types of cancer.

Research has shown that consuming mangoes may help reduce inflammation in the body due to their high levels of polyphenols. This anti-inflammatory effect may help lower the risk for chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and arthritis.

How to Prepare Grilled Mango

Preparing grilled mango is easy! First, start by selecting ripe but firm mangos that are not too soft or overripe. Cut off both ends of each mango then slice off the cheeks (the fleshy parts) from either side of the pit using a sharp knife.

You can choose to leave the skin on or peel it off before grilling depending on your preference. If you decide to leave it on while grilling make sure you brush it with oil or melted butter so that it doesn’t stick to the grill bars.

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat then place each sliced piece directly onto the grate over indirect heat (not directly above flames). Grill for about 2-3 minutes per side until lightly charred with visible grill marks.

Once done remove from heat and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
